The Moms Association is pleased to announce the winner of the 2012 Illini Spirit Award, Campus Recreation. The Illini Spirit Award was created to provide financial support to programs and projects that contribute to the safety, health, development, and achievement of University of Illinois students. The award is in its fifth year.

Funding from the Illini Spirit Award will contribute to Campus Recreation’s Adaptive Recreation Program. This program will provide monthly activities adapted to meet the needs of power wheelchair users including a swimming event at the Campus Recreation Center East aquatic center, exclusive access to the Ice Arena, organized adapted sports events, climbing wall, and game room events.  These events help build community and independence for power chair users. The award will help continue this program and enhance the U of I experience for these students, as well as for the staff and volunteers who help with the program.

Campus Recreation will receive their award and be recognized at the Moms Association Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 21, 2012, which is open to the public.
